Plastic Surgeon, Dr. LeRoy Hosts Fall 2018 Charity Contest

If you’ve been a plastic surgery patient or a social media follower of mine for a while, then you’re probably familiar with the quarterly contest that I run for local charity organizations. Once every season of the year, I host a social media charity contest that donates $1000 to one local charity that hasn’t previously won. Since many of my social media followers are members of the community, I like to ask for their input about which organization we should focus our resources on. We will pick the category of donation, but the specific entities who will receive the money are entirely dependent upon your vote. Over the years, we’ve helped some fantastic groups continue to make the community a better place. The nominations for this year will be within the category of animal shelters and rescue.

The Charity Contest Details Include:

Each of our social media charity contests have two separate phases. The first phase is the nomination process. During our nomination process, we’ll make a post on September 28th, 2018 that asks for recommendations on which local charity to select under the animal shelters and rescue category. For three weeks on the John L. LeRoy Facebook page, followers will nominate the animal shelter or rescue organization of their choice by commenting with their selection. Participants must only nominate an organization once and all previous winners will be omitted from the contest. To give each contender a fair chance, anyone who nominates more than once will be disqualified. The top four most popular nominations will become the finalists.

Once the finalists are chosen, the voting phase of the charity contest begins. During our voting process, Facebook followers will then vote between the four finalists and the winner with the most votes will receive the $1000 donation. The winner will be announced on October 26th, 2018.

Decades ago, I decided to become a double board-certified plastic surgeon with the goal of helping people. This motivation has not changed for me. I’m proud to serve my community and hosting this charity contest gives me a chance to help others beyond the realm of plastic surgery. This fall, I would greatly appreciate your assistance in finding a worthy animal shelter or rescue center for the $1000 donation. If you’ve been following me and my work for a while, you probably know about my charity contests already. Each season, I host a social media charity contest, getting my followers’ input on local charities who could make great use of a $1,000 donation from my office. With your nominations and votes, I’ve been touched by some fantastic Georgia charities I’ve learned about, and I’ve been honored to be able to assist many of them and their causes. To make a difference in more lives throughout the Atlanta area, I recently started giving each contest a category (like pet-related charities, or organizations that help kids). This has helped me discover many smaller, more specialized charities. So, for my spring 2018 contest, I’m continuing this tradition and looking for organizations in a specific category: homelessness/poverty.

Dr. John LeRoy Hosts Social Media Charity ContestHow the Charity Contest Works:

My social media charity contests have two stages: nomination and voting. From April 12th-April 27th, 2018, we invited our patients, friends, and followers to the John L. LeRoy Facebook page to nominate their favorite Georgia organizations that are dedicated to ending homelessness and poverty. We’ve now evaluated this list and chosen four finalists.

Those finalists have now been announced, and the final voting is open to everyone. Simply visit our Facebook page before May 11th, 2018, find the post at the top of the timeline that invites you to cast your vote, and comment with the name of the charity you feel should win the donation. Finally, we’ll announce the winner of the donation on Monday, May 14th, 2018.

I’m passionate about finding joy in every part of life and in helping others do the same, and while I’m able to do that every day at my plastic surgery office, these charity contests let me take it one step further. This spring, I would be honored to have your help in finding local charities that make a difference in Georgians’ lives every day, and I look forward to working with you to make our community a better place for all.

As a double board-certified plastic surgeon, my passion is helping patients become their most confident and beautiful selves. Because every patient has his/her own specific concerns, meeting that goal can take many different forms. As you may have noticed, most of my blogs focus on facelifts (especially my exclusive Band Aid Mini Facelift) and other facial rejuvenation procedures, and I love seeing how much my patients enjoy their results. However, over the past 34 years, I’ve had extensive experience in an array of other surgeries as well, from breast augmentations to liposuction. On top of all these, I frequently provide non-surgical treatments like Botox® and Dysport® injections, laser skin resurfacing, facial filler injections, and non-surgical skin tightening.

As a double board-certified plastic surgeon, I spend most of my time addressing my patients’ need to feel confident in their appearance. As heartwarming as it is to see my patients enjoy their results, I also know that there are plenty of people in our community with other needs as well. To lend a hand and give back to the metro area that I’m proud to be a part of, I host several charity contests every year. During the contests, I ask for your help to identify Georgia organizations that are helping those in need in our local area. After your nominations and votes have determined a winner, I award the winning charity a $1,000 donation. This week, I’m excited to kick off my first charity contest of 2018.

Winter 2018 Category: Kids and Teens

In order to spread the donations among many types of organizations, we choose a category for each contest. This season’s category is Kids and Teens. You can nominate any charity that serves kids and/or teenagers in some way, whether it’s a children’s home, a benefit for ailing kids, a charity that prepares kids for a more successful future, etc. Nominations just need to fit the criteria listed in the details below, and past winners (such as The Tree House Inc. and Calvary Children’s Home) are not eligible for future contests.

Charity Contest Details

My charity contests are conducted through my social media – primarily my Facebook page. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Between January 18th and February 2nd, 2018, visit the John LeRoy Facebook Page and look for the post that invites you to submit a nomination – it will be the top post on my timeline. Comment on this post to tell us what charity you want to nominate. Your nomination must meet the following criteria:
    • The organization must belong to the designated category — “charities that serve kids and/or teens.” Organizations in other categories will not be eligible to win.
    • The charity must hold a 501(c)(3) non-profit distinction or be a valid and charitable crowdfunding page.
    • The charity must be in Georgia.
    • Each nominator may only nominate one charity.
    • The charity must contribute to a greater good, identifiable through a published mission statement.
    • The charity may not be a previous charity contest winner (recent winners include TJ and Friends Foundation, Genesis JOY House Homeless Shelter, The Tree House Inc., and Remembering Ruthie Rescue).
  2. When all the nominations are in, we’ll review them and choose up to four finalists. The finalists will be posted on February 5th, 2018.
  3. Between February 5th and February 16th, 2018, return to my Facebook page and look for the post inviting you to vote for a final winter.
  4. After tallying all the votes, we’ll announce the winning charity (and give them their $1,000 donation) on February 19th, 2018.

As a plastic surgeon, my favorite part of the job is seeing my patients enjoy their cosmetic surgery results and embrace their new self-confidence. But my seasonal charity contest gives me an opportunity to go beyond my own patients and help people with a variety of other needs as well. I consider it a privilege to be able to serve the Atlanta area in both capacities, and I’m grateful for your help in finding the best ways to contribute to the community.

The holiday season always makes us reflect on the year we’ve had. As any year does, 2017 has had its ups and downs, but one of the many blessings we’ve enjoyed is our fantastic, supportive group of patients. Working with you all has been a true joy. If you’re new to our family or you’re in the mood for a walk down memory lane, here are a few of the other happy highlights from 2017.

Every year, Atlanta Magazine publishes a list of the local doctors who have earned distinction from Castle Connolly, a group that evaluates doctors across the country. Nominated by their fellow physicians, these doctors need to make medical contributions, earn the respect of their patients and peers, and more before Castle Connolly names them among the best in their field. I am honored to have received this special distinction once again.

20 Years of the Band Aid Mini Facelift

The Band Aid Mini Facelift is a signature procedure I developed in 1997 to offer patients a lighter, natural-looking facelift with dramatically less recovery time and cost. Performed in-office with gentle numbing, my Band Aid Mini Facelift uses specialized techniques to provide a comprehensively younger look with less scarring, swelling, and bruising and about half the recovery time a typical facelift requires. This year, I celebrated twenty years of using the innovation to help my patients look and feel their best, and I look forward to many more years of the same.

I’m so fortunate to be able to do what I love every day for my cosmetic surgery patients, and I believe it’s important to share your blessings. That’s why I hold several social media charity contests every year, enlisting my supporters’ helping in finding local charities that do great work for the community. Through nominations and votes, my patients and followers helping me donate thousands of dollars this year to three wonderful organizations: The Tree House, Genesis JOY House Homeless Shelter, and TJ & Friends Foundation.
