The Nominations Are in. Get Ready to Vote!
The staff at double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. John L. LeRoy‘s office would like to thank everyone who has participated so far in our favorite-charity contest on social media. We received some excellent nominations for very deserving charities and have narrowed down the list of nominees. Thank you for giving so many wonderful organizations the chance to receive a $1,000 donation!
The top four charities selected are: St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, TJ and Friends Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association, and the Red Cross. Now as one of our Facebook fans, you’ll have until 12 PM on Monday, October 20, 2014 to vote for your choice among the finalists. Stay up to date on the voting and on the latest plastic surgery news by keeping an eye on our blog and following us on social media. We’ll announce the winner on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, and that lucky charity will receive a $1,000 donation in their nominator’s name (or names, if more than one person nominated the winning charity).
About the Finalists
St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital is a two-in-one (research and patient care) facility devoted to pediatrics and the treatment of catastrophic illnesses in children. Funded almost entirely by individual contributors, St. Jude does not charge families for treatment and has pushed the childhood cancer survival rate to over 80 percent.
TJ and Friends Foundation exists solely to provide financial aid to cancer patients in Elbert, Franklin, Lincoln, Madison, Wilkes, Hart, and Oglethorpe Counties (Georgia). The organization utilizes a variety of fundraising activities, such as golf tournaments and raffles, to fund its work.
The Red Cross has a broad humanitarian mission that extends across the globe. Its mission is to prevent and relieve suffering anywhere it exists through five service areas: disaster relief, health and safety services, blood donation, military member and family support, and international services that include education and community building.
The Alzheimer’s Association‘s goal is threefold: to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through research and treatment; to care for and support everyone affected by the disease; and to reduce the risk of dementia. AA has numerous local chapters, a 24/7 helpline, over 4,500 support groups nationwide, and more than 20,000 education programs.

Voting is completely free. We encourage our supporters to spotlight small charities as well as large, well-known ones. We want to support worthy causes, no matter how big or small!
