3 Reasons Why Your Plastic Surgery Consultation is So Important
It goes without saying that the plastic surgery consultation appointment is extremely important. But why is that? I have spoken to so many patients over the years who come into their consultations without fully understanding how essential this pre-surgery appointment is to achieving the aesthetic results that they desire. In my experience, the consultation is a vital learning experience for patients, both about their procedure itself, but as importantly, about the physician who will be performing it. This is why I thought it would be helpful to discuss consultation appointments and why they are so important in the plastic surgery process.
Reason #1: Getting Better Acquainted With Your Plastic Surgeon
I have always thought of each plastic surgery procedure as a partnership between me and my patient. And this bond begins with the initial consultation appointment. For patients, the consultation is a time to get to know your prospective plastic surgeon better. This should include making sure their personality, specific experience, manner with you and other patients, and aesthetic sensibility are all in line with yours.
Reason #2: Understanding All Available Procedure Options
Another thing for patients to keep in mind is that many plastic surgeons, myself included, perform different varieties of cosmetic procedures in order to offer their patients more options. For example, I offer my signature Band Aid plastic surgery procedures including Band Aid Mini Facelift and Band Aid Liposuction, which are performed in-office using gentle numbing, less invasive and more economical. For many patients, they may be better fits than the traditional versions of these surgeries. Being aware of all of the available options is critical for any patient trying to get the most out of their plastic surgery experience.
Reason #3: Addressing All Questions & Concerns
Part of my role as a plastic surgeon is to make sure my patients feel confident and comfortable regarding every aspect of their surgery and care. This is why I strongly encourage patients to let me know about any and all questions or concerns they have regarding their surgery. The best approach is always to leave no stone unturned, no matter how trivial you may feel a certain question may seem.
