This contemplation can easily turn to researching a specific cosmetic procedure. You start googling and sorting through all of the possibilities. But you run into one hiccup—who will perform your procedure? What are their qualifications? What organizations should they be a part of? Today, I will discuss the benefits of having a plastic surgeon perform your cosmetic procedure.

Education & Training

I can honestly say that the reason that I, Dr. John LeRoy, am so successful and innovative in my practice is because I am double board certified in both plastic surgery and general surgery with a specialty in cosmic surgery. I spent many years perfecting my craft after Medical College of Georgia and Manhattan Ear, Eye, and Throat Hospital in New York.

Organizations and Affiliations

As a well-established plastic surgeon, I am a part of a variety organizations such as the Georgia Society of Plastic Surgery, the American Medical Association, the National Board of Medical Specialties, the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Moretz Society. Being involved in these prestigious organizations helps me to stay up to date on surgery trends including new technology and techniques.

Innovative Solutions

My training, experience, and affiliations have given me the tools and ingenuity to create a brand new procedure—the band aid mini facelift—my in-office variation of the mini facelift which uses gentle numbing and requires less recovery time than a traditional facelift. With over 20 years of experience, I am able to perform surgeries of both the reconstructive and the purely aesthetic variety and am well-experienced in helping patients achieve their aesthetic goals. Although patient goals vary, I take pride in providing natural aesthetic options to my patients through my band aid procedures. I am also able to perform many surgeries both in-office and in the hospital, should a patient elect to have their procedure performed in a hospital.

Reopening and Other COVID-19 Information

Dear patient,
I hope this message finds you in good health and even better spirits. As many of you may know, our doors have been closed since March 16th, 2020 in observance of the statewide shelter in place legislation from Georgia Governor Kemp. However, in light of the lifting of this order, we will be reopening our plastic surgery office soon to resume serving you. We have taken great thought and care in the reopening of our plastic surgery office to best serve you and safeguard your health. Rest assured that we are taking advanced COVID-19 precautions including:

  • Installing high efficiency particulate air filters (HEPA) throughout our offices.
  • Conducting preliminary phone screenings.
  • Wearing advanced safety equipment.
  • Increasing hand sanitation protocol.
  • Socially distancing in waiting and exam rooms.
  • Checking patient temperatures.
  • Cleaning thoroughly in between patients in exam rooms and common areas.
  • Limiting entry to one person per appointment.
  • Removing all magazines from our lobby.

As we are adamant about doing our part, we kindly ask that all patients do their part as well. This includes:

  • Arriving on time. We will not accept patients who are more than 15 minutes late. We ask this for smooth patient transition and adequate time for sanitation and patient screenings.
  • Complying with a preliminary phone screening prior to your appointment.
  • Answering a small health survey and having your temperature taken upon arrival.
  • Wearing a mask upon entrance to the building.
  • Practicing social isolation for one week prior and one week after surgical procedures.

Please continue to practice CDC guidelines including social distancing, proper handwashing hygiene, wearing a mask, and staying at home as much as possible. What You Should Know About Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Coronavirus (COVID-19) has made an unprecedented global impact over the past few weeks. It has caused a disruption that will not cease until we get the virus under control. Most recently, we have been asked to extend our social distancing practices for another month in the U.S. So far, the best information written in laymen’s terms that I have seen online regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been shared by Dr. Dan Ketterer, an Infectious Disease physician from the Atlanta area, on his website. Due to the severity of the matter, I, Dr. John LeRoy, have taken a break from informing you about the intricacies of plastic surgery. Instead, I have synthesized some of Dr. Ketterer’s most important points for you to better understand this virus and how you can best combat it. What is Coronavirus (COVID-19)?

In short, Coronaviruses are found in animals, primarily. Seven of coronavirus strains are known to infect humans. COVID-19 stands for Coronavirus Disease of 2019. COVID-19 is the clinical syndrome caused by SARS-CoV-2 which is the virus or infectious particle.

What symptoms should I be aware of?

Fever and cough are two of the most common symptoms of Coronavirus. Some patients also experience diarrhea, muscle or joint aches, fatigue, loss of smell, headaches, and shortness of breath in severe cases.

How is Coronavirus (COVID-19) spread?

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is often spread two ways, through droplet respiratory transmission in the form of coughing, breathing, talking to or breathing on someone within close proximity, or kissing someone. The other way Coronavirus (COVID-19) is spread is through fomite transmission such as infected surfaces and household items such as doorknobs, light switches, and countertops. A person may touch the infected surface and then infect themselves by touching their mouth, nose, or eyes.

Should I be tested for Coronavirus (COVID-19)?

If you suspect that you have mild symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19), it is vital that you stay in self-quarantine. This will protect others from contracting the disease from you. You should contact a doctor in severe cases. Many doctors now have telehealth and can advise you from the comfort of your home should you choose to forgo traditional treatment. For those of you who do not have access to local screening from your regular practitioner, please visit the free virtual screening service from Augusta Health. Please note that if you experience severe symptoms such as trouble breathing, please contact 911 immediately.

How can I protect myself from Coronavirus (COVID-19)?

  • Stop smoking
  • Improve your blood pressure
  • Improve your blood sugars
  • Practice social distancing (a minimum of 6 ft)
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds
  • When you do not have access to soap and water, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer

How can I help combat Coronavirus?

  • Contact the elderly and depressed individuals who may be at high risk for disease contraction or loneliness as a result of social distancing
  • Cover your mouth when coughing in public
  • Set a positive example on social media and in public places
  • Donate blood if you are healthy and able. Many hospitals are or will soon be facing severe blood shortages.
