In the interest of my patients, I make a point to check out plastic surgery statistics from time to time. Doing so helps me better grasp the industry from a greater vantage point than just what is going on within my practice. Today, I thought it would be interesting to go into more detail on plastic surgery for the face. Analyzing these statistics help us learn how and why patients are currently choosing certain plastic surgery for facial rejuvenation. All statistics presented were gathered by The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) for 2023.
I always enjoy diving deeper into industry news like this and gaining a better understanding of what prospective patients may be most interested in when they come visit my office for the first time. Social media has become a driving force of many aesthetic trends in recent years. Just as popular new weight loss medicines like Semaglutide have become more prominent in online discussions, so too have some side effects from weight loss. The phrase “Ozempic face” has gained traction on social media recently as more people (especially celebrities and influencers) have discussed the changes to their facial appearance after their weight loss. Additionally, we have heard from some of our own patient’s recently who have experienced this firsthand and who are looking for a reasonable solution. Today, I wanted to discuss how my signature Band Aid Facelift technique can help address the effects of post weight loss.
Semaglutide medications were primarily used for treating type 2 diabetes in the past. These medications work by mimicking a hormone that regulates insulin levels and suppresses the natural appetite. The desired result is considerable weight loss that can be sustained over time with a healthy diet and daily exercise.
And while many patients are satisfied with their weight loss, there can be some unexpected side effects. Rapid loss of facial fat can lead to unwanted and unpleasant changes in a person’s facial appearance. Some natural fat in the face is essential to provide volume and make the face look healthy and youthful. By losing too much of this fat, a person can look old before their time, and experience a deflated and hollowed out appearance.
Patients seeking a way to restore lost facial volume may benefit from undergoing a cosmetic surgery procedure like my Band Aid Facelift. This minimally invasive alternative to a traditional facelift is intended to address common signs of facial aging and provide a more youthful and rested facial appearance. Depending on the patient’s specific needs, the procedure can be performed by making a small incision under the chin, above the ears, or in the nape of the neck. This surgery is performed in my office under gentle numbing, so no hospital stay will be needed and the recovery process is shorter, simpler, and more economical than with most facelifts.
Cosmetic surgery can be a terrific option for anyone concerned about lost facial volume or other signs of facial aging. For more information on my procedures, contact me, Dr. John L. LeRoy. You can follow along with me on Facebook for additional tips, practice news, and much more.

Noses are unique. In my experience, no two are ever quite the same. And when discussing facial rejuvenation with my patients, the nose is a pretty common point of emphasis. Depending on each person’s specific preferences and facial features, altering the size or shape of the nose with rhinoplasty surgery can often be a terrific way to bring more balance and harmony to the face. Today, I wanted to get into more detail on rhinoplasty by discussing a few things that anyone interested should know about the procedure.
If you have an issue with your nose, there’s a very high probability that rhinoplasty can be a good solution. Rhinoplasty can be used to correct the width of the nose (too wide or narrow), the positioning of the nose tip, the size of the nostrils, the length of the nose, bumps or “humps” on the nose, and more. Additionally, rhinoplasty can provide an array of medical benefits including reconstruction after a broken nose or alleviating breathing issues caused by a deviated septum.
Rhinoplasty is one of the few plastic surgery procedures that is commonly performed on teenagers and other younger patients. While there is no specific age minimum to undergo this surgery, it’s essential for the facial features to be fully developed in order to confirm that someone is a good candidate for rhinoplasty. This typically occurs in the late-teens, but varies from person-to-person, so a consultation will be required to confirm if the patient is a good candidate for the procedure.
In the days immediately after rhinoplasty, swelling and bruising around the eyes will occur. This is perfectly normal and part of the natural healing process. However, patients should keep this in mind and be patient. I understand that everyone wants to achieve their final results as soon as possible, but this simply is not possible with this procedure until enough time is allowed for the nose to heal. And healing after nose surgery will always be based on the extensiveness of the procedure as well as the individual. Rhinoplasty surgery results will continue to improve in the weeks (and months) after surgery, until the final results are visible. In the meantime, it’s important to follow your post-surgery instructions as closely as possible.
Rhinoplasty has been a common procedure at my practice for years and it’s no surprise why. The satisfaction rate among rhinoplasty patients is incredibly high and it’s amazing to see what even slight tweaks to the nose can do for a person’s self-esteem and overall appearance.
