True or False: Understanding Band Aid Laser Skin Resurfacing

Even people who go to great lengths to develop and maintain effective skincare routines will not be able to prevent common signs of aging like wrinkles, fine lines, and a dulled complexion. But that inevitability doesn’t mean that there aren’t outstanding cosmetic solutions available to help rejuvenate the skin and fight off these effects. Today, I wanted to go into detail about my signature Band Aid Laser Skin Resurfacing procedure by answering a few true and false statements on the subject.

True or False: I Might Only Need One Band Aid Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment

This is true. While it is not a guarantee, many patients are able to achieve the facial rejuvenation they desire after just one treatment session. As new collagen continues to produce following your treatment, the results will become more pronounced in the days and weeks following treatment. We will discuss your specific needs and develop an appropriate treatment plan at your pre-treatment consultation appointment.

True or False: Band Aid Laser Skin Resurfacing Can Be a Substitute to Plastic Surgery

This is false. The benefits of Band Aid Laser Skin Resurfacing treatments are not intended to replace or be a substitute for plastic surgery. Band Aid Laser Skin Resurfacing is unique among the procedures I perform in its ability to repair damage on the skin’s surface. In addition to making the skin smoother, it can also effectively address age spots, sun damage, and even improve scarring and acne that plastic surgery is not intended to treat. In fact, many patients utilize Band Aid Laser Skin Resurfacing after they have undergone a plastic surgery procedure like a facelift in order to maximize their results.

True or False: There Will Be No Downtime Required After Band Aid Laser Skin Resurfacing

This is false, but this downtime is short. Additionally, despite how powerful the anti-aging results can be from this treatment for the face, patients will be able to resume their normal daily activities as soon as one day, but will need at least a week before starting back any intense workout routines. Patients will experience some degree of facial redness (similar to a sunburn) (and some temporary oozing and crusting) after Band Aid Laser Skin Resurfacing, but this is minor and will fade in about a week or so following your treatment. It is also important to note that the patient will need to avoid sun until the face is fully healed at which time they can wear sunscreen. All of these details will be reviewed prior to treatment.

Popular Plastic Surgeries for Patients of All Ages – Part 2

As I discussed in part one, there isn’t any specific age range for people who can benefit from undergoing cosmetic surgery. As long as the patient is in good health and a good candidate for their respective procedure, plastic surgery can be incredibly helpful and rewarding for patients of all ages. Today, I will go into more detail on how plastic surgery can be helpful for patients who are 50 and older, and more specifically, which cosmetic procedures can be most beneficial for these patients.

Cosmetic Procedures For Patients in Their 50’s

Unlike patients in their 30’s and 40’s who may be preemptively trying to fight off common signs of aging before they occur, plastic surgery for patients in their 50’s may require a more detailed approach. One consistent problem area that I see with patients in this age range is the cheeks beginning to lose their plumpness, the skin beginning to get looser and more wrinkles developing in the lower portion of the face. For people in their 50’s who have started to see the early signs of sagging skin and lax facial tissue, my signature Band Aid Mini Facelift can provide immense relief. This minimally invasive alternative to traditional facelift surgery is customized to each patient’s needs, and is performed in my office using gentle numbing rather than general anesthesia. Cosmetic Procedures For Patients in Their 60’s and Older

Plastic surgery is more common than ever for people who are in their 60’s. Unsurprisingly, patients in this age bracket put more emphasis on facial rejuvenation than body contouring. I often end up discussing neck lift surgery with these patients, as an effective means for improving the appearance of lax skin and muscle of the neck (often referred to as a waddle or jowls). Undergoing a neck lift can also enhance the results of other facial procedures, like eyelid surgery or a facelift, to provide even more comprehensive results for patients with considerable facial aging. Eyelid surgery to help refresh the appearance of the areas around the eyes is also very in-demand for patients in this age range.

My personal philosophy is that age is just a number and the “right” cosmetic procedure is the one that will most help my patient achieve their aesthetic goals and feel better about how they look. Popular Plastic Surgeries for Patients of All Ages – Part 1

Although plastic surgery is still most common among people in their 40’s and 50’s, we are long past the days when these groups accounted for the overwhelming majority of cosmetic procedures. Today, I wanted to illustrate this new reality by discussing some of the procedures that I perform most commonly for patients in specific age brackets – beginning with the younger groups.

Cosmetic Procedures For Patients in Their 20’s

Cosmetic maintenance and anti-aging are major trends for patients in their 20’s. The key for these patients is preemptively fighting off common signs of aging before they occur or become overly prominent. I perform a Band Aid Lip Augmentation using facial fillers to help younger patients address thin or aging lips that have lost volume. This is a subtle, minimally invasive procedure that requires very little recovery time. I also perform Botox® and Dysport® injections to help minimize the threat of wrinkles before they occur. Breast augmentation surgery is also consistently popular with patients in their 20’s who are not satisfied with the size/volume of their natural breast contour.

Cosmetic Procedures For Patients in Their 30’s

Body contouring is bigger among patients in their 30’s. Especially liposuction, which is able to help patients remove patches of unwanted fat from areas all over the body, and tummy tuck which can be incredibly helpful for removing loose or stretched skin (and repairing damaged muscles) from the abdominal area. The tummy tuck is very popular with women in their 30’s who want to re-attain their pre-baby body after pregnancy and childbirth. In the 40’s is when many people, both men and women, begin to really notice common signs of facial aging. Aging Gracefully With the Help of Plastic Surgery

The idea of “aging gracefully” is something that many people aspire to, but even this idea can mean different things to different people. Today, I wanted to dive more specifically into this topic and discuss how undergoing plastic surgery can help both men and women age gracefully with subtle aesthetic adjustments.

How do Injectables Minimize Signs of Aging?

Ask Dr. LeRoy How Safe are Facial Cosmetic InjectablesSmiling, frowning, laughing, crying – every emotion our face expresses contributes to fine lines and wrinkles. These repetitive motions cause the muscles in our face to contract. When we pair this with the loss of collagen and changes in skin elasticity that occurs as we age, we are left with visible signs of aging on the face in the form of fine lines and wrinkles. Luckily, non-surgical solutions are available to minimize these signs of aging, leaving you with a rested and youthful appearance.

Botox® and Dysport®

Botox® and Dysport® are derivatives of botulinum toxin and are used to treat fine lines and wrinkles appearing on the upper portion of the face. Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin that stops muscle contractions. When used in small amounts, this safe and effective treatment can relax the muscles responsible for crow’s feet, frown lines, and other memory lines. However, it does not “freeze” your muscles as some people believe. Instead, it blocks the nerve signals that tell the muscle to become tense, leaving you with a rested and happy appearance. While each patient’s experience is individual, you can generally expect Botox® and Dysport® to last between 3 and 6 months.

Restylane® and Juvéderm®

Restylane® and Juvéderm® both contain a modified form of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally occurring in the body’s connective tissues. Hyaluronic acid retains moisture, leading to a hydrated and plump appearance. Just like collagen, our bodies begin to decrease hyaluronic acid production leading to wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin. By utilizing Restylane® and Juvéderm®, I can minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and restore that plump, hydrated look to the face.

Juvéderm® contains a collection of five distinct fillers, and Restylane® contains a collection of seven distinct fillers each of which targets a specific area of the face. The newest Juvéderm® product, Juvéderm Voluma® XC, can not only restore volume to the cheek area but can also be used to non-surgically augment the chin. We are also proud to offer Restylane’s® newest product, Restylane® Lyft, which targets wrinkles around the mouth and volume loss in the cheeks. The results of each Restylane® and Juvéderm® product can last between 6 months and 2 years, and the body naturally reabsorbs the product.

Radiesse®

Radiesse® is different from Restylane® and Juvéderm® in that it is not hyaluronic acid. Instead, Radiesse® is a unique dermal filler that contains calcium hydroxylapatite – one of the world’s most well-known and well-studied dermal fillers. Using Radiesse®, I can accomplish two important tasks for my patients: restore volume loss and stimulate new collagen production.

We can’t blame only expression lines or only volume loss for signs of aging, as both elements play a part in overall aging. The initial restoration of volume with Radiesse® will smooth those visible fine lines and wrinkles that contribute to our aging appearance. Then, as time goes on, the dermal filler will begin to encourage the production of new collagen, a naturally occurring protein found in the body that is responsible for skin elasticity. As new collagen is produced, wrinkles and fine lines become less noticeable. The results of Radiesse® last up to two years, and the body’s metabolic process naturally reabsorbs the product.
