Building meaningful connections with my patients is one of my favorite parts about being a board-certified plastic surgeon. Here are a few recent testimonials:
“I have had three procedures done by Dr. LeRoy and it feels so good knowing that I have a highly experienced doctor who understands my cosmetic needs like the gynecologist who knows my body like a mechanic. He and Dorothy always make me feel like family. Dorothy anticipates my needs during procedures with outstanding empathy and Dr. LeRoy’s voice and humor makes everything okay. He calls to check on you after the procedure. He is the Michelangelo of cosmetics!!!”
– P. (2021)
“Dr. LeRoy and his assistant Dorothy made me feel at ease throughout the whole procedure. Dr. LeRoy is a very skilled and artistic plastic surgeon with a great bedside manner.”
– A. (2021)
“I had the chance to meet Dr. LeRoy today!! He is an amazing doctor who is honest and pleasant. This was my first encounter with him but I could tell he cared about me and my concerns and addressed them in a professional but compassionate manner. He recommended I wait for the procedure I wanted and did not force any sales upon me. I am grateful to have met such an amazing person and staff. I came in with lack of confidence within myself and left full of confidence. Such an amazing staff.”
– T.F.B. (2020)
“Dr. LeRoy and his staff were amazing! They were upfront and realistic about expectations. I had liposuction and fat transfer of my abdomen to fix a previous poorly done lipo from 10 years ago. I am only a week out of surgery and never thought my stomach could look this ‘normal’ again. He truly took his time and effort to give me the best possible results. After many consultations and hearing a wide variety of quotes that were unimaginable and overwhelming I was beginning to think I would never look at my belly without cringing again. After my initial plastic surgery consultation with Dr. Leroy I was confident and excited to start the process. He did not disappoint.”
– S.V. (2019)
“Dr. LeRoy and staff were friendly, professional and very helpful in explaining different procedures I was interested in. I didn’t feel like I was being sold on things I didn’t need, in fact just the opposite.”
– L. (2020)

The plastic surgery recovery process involves a good amount of planning. In order to have a safe and effective recovery period, it is important that you place certain life activities on hold. This can include work, family, hobbies, household chores, and, of course, exercise. Patients typically can return to work and day-to-day activities before they can go back to their exercise routine. Because of this, it is important to understand how timelines vary and what you should expect from the recovery process.
The amount of time you should spend recovering before resuming your workout routine depends on the type of procedure you had done. The most extensive procedure I perform is a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, which requires two to four weeks to get back to daily activities and light exercise. An additional six weeks is needed before you can get back to exercises that involve heavy lifting. With less invasive procedures, such as the Band Aid Mini Facelift, you can return to work in about a week depending on how much swelling and bruising you have. After two weeks, you can return to your normal exercise routine.
Before your surgery, we’ll also discuss other ways to make your recovery smoother and more effective. For example, a joke I always tell my patients is “don’t stand on your head.” But in all seriousness, during the recovery period, you should keep your head above your heart at all times. Doing otherwise can induce swelling and cause possible complications.
Check out the video below to learn more about how to manage your exercise routine during your plastic surgery recovery.
Ultimately, your recovery time will depend on your age, procedure and typical activity levels. Even with a strict diet and exercise regime, it can be difficult to lose stubborn excess fat. If you have small pockets of fat you want to reduce, but don’t want to undergo a comprehensive liposuction procedure, Band Aid Liposuction may be a great solution. While this minimally-invasive procedure has a number of positives, there are a few things that this treatment is unable to do. To help you get a better understanding about what my signature Band Aid Liposuction treatment can and cannot do, I, Dr. John L. LeRoy, have provided a few insights that you should know about this procedure.
Band Aid Liposuction Can Treat Multiple Areas of the Body and Face
Whether you want to reduce fat from your double chin, your thighs or shape areas of the jowl, Band Aid Liposuction is fully equipped to provide treatment to multiple areas of the face and body. This procedure is designed to effectively eliminate excess fat from the abdomen, arms, hips, thighs, knees, jowls, behind the elbows and under the chin.
Band Aid Liposuction Cannot Replace Traditional Liposuction
At its core, Band Aid Liposuction is a “mini” version of liposuction that serves as a great alternative for patients with small pockets of excess fat who do not need to undergo a traditional liposuction surgery. Because of this, the best candidates for this treatment are those who are at a healthy weight, but want to reduce small, bothersome areas of excess fat from their face and body.
Band Aid Liposuction is not designed for patients who have more moderate or disproportionate amounts of excess fat. In addition to my Band Aid treatment, I also perform traditional liposuction procedures, so I can help you to evaluate your individualized needs and find the best body contouring option for you.
Band Aid Liposuction Can Be Performed In-Office
Similar to traditional liposuction methods, this procedure uses tiny micro cannulas to remove excess fat cells through small incisions in the treatment area. However, Band Aid Liposuction differs because it is performed in-office with gentle numbing instead of general anesthesia. Performing this body contouring treatment this way allows for little downtime and a quick recovery time. Immediately after the procedure, most patients are even able to drive themselves home.
Band Aid Liposuction Cannot Replace Diet and Exercise
At the end of day, liposuction is not a substitute for maintaining a consistent diet and exercise routine. Living a healthy lifestyle post-procedure is important because extreme weight loss or gain can alter your results.

Rhinoplasty surgery, commonly referred to as a nose job, is a procedure that has both cosmetic and medical benefits. Because everyone’s nose is unique, the surgery is tailored to the specific needs of each patient. By accounting for individual facial characteristics, I, Dr. John L. LeRoy, am able to create natural-looking rhinoplasty results to positively transform a patient’s appearance. Unfortunately, there are still myths and misconceptions about nose surgery floating around. To help you decipher fact from fiction, I have dispelled five common myths I often hear about this procedure.
#1: Rhinoplasty surgery is painful.
When I perform rhinoplasty surgery, I put my patients under local or general anesthesia prior to the procedure. The type of anesthesia is based on the level of correction as well as patient preference. Because of this, it’s typical to not feel any pain or discomfort during the surgery. After the procedure, you will typically experience swelling and slight soreness, but these symptoms will subside within a few days.
#2: Only women undergo rhinoplasty surgery.
While the majority of cosmetic procedures are undergone by women, thousands of men elect to receive cosmetic surgeries every year. It is not uncommon for men to have cosmetic concerns about their appearance and seek treatment. Additionally, many men are interested in rhinoplasty because of the medical benefits it carries when it comes to correcting a deviated septum or improving breathing.
#3: You have to get your nose “touched-up” every few years.
While a small number of patients may want revision surgery years after their procedure, a nose job is designed to be a one-time surgery. The results from your initial procedure should not change over the years. However, since the aging process can be unpredictable, some patients may require minimal maintenance.
#4: You must be a certain age to undergo nose surgery.
Compared to other cosmetic procedures, rhinoplasty surgery is unique because it can be performed on a wide range of ages. Patients who can undergo nose surgery range from teenagers to those past their middle age years. There is no right age for this procedure, but it’s important that the facial features of younger patients are fully developed before surgery.
#5: Rhinoplasty surgery causes breathing problems.
When it comes to this myth, the exact opposite is true. When performed to help treat medical concerns, rhinoplasty surgery can actually make it easier to breathe because your plastic surgeon will open up and reconstruct the nasal passages. During the recovery period, some patients may experience minor nasal blockage, but this will quickly heal. Ultimately, after your board-certified plastic surgeon performs your surgery, you should expect your breathing to improve or to remain the same depending on your desired outcome.
Now that a few myths have been busted, hopefully you have a better understanding about rhinoplasty surgery and how it can help improve the appearance and function of your nose.
