Ask Dr. LeRoy: What is the Best Age for a Band Aid Facelift?
Since developing my Band Aid Facelift nearly 20 years ago, I’ve seen a similar thought process in many facial rejuvenation patients. They’re thrilled to have a wide range of options, but they soon begin wondering, “How do I know which choice is right for me? What procedure is best for people of my age?” While it might make your decision easier, there is no timeline that tells you which cosmetic treatments to have at specific ages. Some Band Aid Facelift patients in my testimonial videos are happy to offer their ages, which range from the early 40s to the mid-60s. Every patient ages at a different rate, and has a different idea of how many signs of aging they will accept before taking action. However, to jumpstart your decision-making process, here are a few signs that you may be ready for a Band Aid Facelift.
- You’re starting to see sagging skin accompany your wrinkles. Fine lines and wrinkles can develop quite early in adulthood, depending on genetics, sun exposure, and other factors. For patients who are just seeing their first few wrinkles, non-surgical treatments like cosmetic facial injections or Band Aid Laser Skin Resurfacing are often effective enough to give them the youthful look they’re seeking. But when you notice some new “droopiness” to the skin of your cheeks or you spot the beginnings of jowls, a Band Aid Facelift is more likely to be the best route to take.
- You want to take years off your appearance but you’re concerned about looking natural. It’s safe to say that most plastic surgery patients want to look natural, but some prioritize this higher than others. The Band Aid Facelift only requires gentle numbing and is geared toward creating more subtle results along with minimal scarring and recovery time, so you can look younger and refreshed without looking “fake.”
- You’re no longer satisfied with the results of non-surgical skin tightening. Many of my long-time patients started with Dysport® injections, chemical peels, and Band Aid Laser Skin Resurfacing. While all of these treatments can be effective, there is no way to stop the aging process, and eventually, sagging skin will begin. When this happens, Band Aid Skin Tightening is often the next step. This procedure uses precisely controlled heat to encourage collagen production, causing the skin to become firmer over the course of several sessions. The gentle treatment can be ideal for some patients, but as your skin continues to age, the Band Aid Facelift can eventually become a more appropriate option.
While these guidelines can be a great start, remember that the choice to have plastic surgery (even a minimally invasive procedure) is a personal decision. My goal is to help every patient become their most confident and beautiful self, whether that means a Band Aid Facelift, non-surgical treatments, or a more comprehensive procedure.
