Facial Rejuvenation for Men
Most people associate everything aesthetic with women rather than men. While women do still account for the majority of plastic surgeries, male patients are growing in number. Each patient has his/her own motivations for making a change, whether it’s to look younger in a competitive and energetic environment or simply to feel more confident on a daily basis. Regardless of the reasons more men are now feeling comfortable getting cosmetic procedures, there are certainly differences between the way men and women approach facial rejuvenation.
Popular Anti-Aging Procedures for Men
In terms of plastic surgery for a younger look, the most popular procedure for men is eyelid surgery (with over 28,000 surgeries performed for men in the US in 2016), followed by facelifts and then neck lifts. However, nonsurgical facial rejuvenation is where we see truly astounding numbers. Over 450,000 Botox® or Dysport® treatments were performed for men in 2016, making it their favorite cosmetic treatment. These injections were followed next by certain types of facial fillers, photo rejuvenation, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, skin tightening, and laser treatments.
Special Considerations in Facial Rejuvenation for Men
For men, recovery time is often a very important factor, especially for the men whose careers are the reason behind their procedures. This is likely the reason we’re seeing so many men getting non-surgical treatments, and it’s also the reason I place a strong emphasis on ease of recovery in my surgeries for men. In addition to keeping men’s procedures as minimally invasive as possible, I also put a greater focus on minimal scarring and natural-looking results for men. After a facelift, for instance, women tend to have enough hair that they can more easily conceal scarring, while men often do not. The specialized Band Aid Mini Facelift I developed and have been performing for 20 years actually addresses all of these concerns at the same time with half the recovery time and far less scarring, swelling, bruising, and cost than a traditional face lift.
Men and women may have different reasons for seeking plastic surgery, and they may have different priorities for their results, but one thing is constant – cosmetic procedures need to be tailored to each individual patient.
