The Benefits of Liposuction
Liposuction is one of the most popular plastic surgeries in the country, but it’s also one of the most misunderstood ones. Many people see liposuction as an alternative to weight loss, giving you your ideal physique without the need for diet and exercise. The reality is quite different. Weight loss occurs when your body uses up the fat it has stored in its fat cells, making your existing fat cells smaller. This is why, when you lose weight, you typically notice a change in all or most areas of your body – abdomen, legs, arms, “double chin,” etc.
Liposuction, on the other hand, manually removes fat cells from one or more specific and relatively small areas. Rather than a substitute for weight loss, liposuction should be used to address stubborn areas of unwanted fat. To learn more about what liposuction can do, check out my video below:
Liposuction is a very valid, beneficial procedure, but only in the correct circumstances and for the correct patients. In fact, my patients with smaller areas may be candidates for my Band Aid Liposuction, an in-office procedure that uses gentle numbing (rather than general anesthesia) for limited recovery time.
