Dr. John LeRoy Named Top Doctor in Atlanta by Castle Connolly Once Again!

The experience to offer unique procedure methods that cannot be found elsewhere? The manner and office staff to provide an outstanding and comfortable experience for every patient? The answer is all of the above, and then some. My medical team and I take great pride in achieving the highest standard in every aspect of our care. Which is why it means so much to us to hear that our patients and our peers are taking notice of all the hard work and dedication we put in. This is why I am so happy to announce that I am honored to have been named a Top Doctor in Atlanta in the field of Plastic Surgery by Castle Connolly once again for 2025.

Each year, Castle Connolly spends time identifying and shining a spotlight on the best healthcare providers in the US in a wide array of fields and specialty areas. Of the over 985,000 practicing doctors around the country, roughly 7% in each category are selected as Top Doctors by the selection committee at Castle Connolly. In order to be considered, a doctor must be nominated by their peers in their respective fields. The selection of Top Doctors is then made by a panel of physicians who consider a variety of relevant factors including each nominee’s board-certifications, reputation, peer recommendation, contributions to their field, and more.

Having now been honored as a Top Doctor in Atlanta for nine consecutive years, I am incredibly grateful for this acknowledgment once again. Being there for my patients and knowing that the work my staff and I do each day is making a difference for them is certainly all the reward I need, but I’m glad that prospective patients can see this award and know that they will be in the best-possible hands when they visit our office for the first time.

One area that has brought me considerable pleasure over the past year is the continued development and use of my signature Band Aid Plastic Surgery procedures. I believe that offering these minimally invasive plastic surgery techniques allows more patients than ever to enjoy potentially life-changing cosmetic rejuvenation. This level of inclusivity and broadening of our patient base has certainly played a part in this recognition, and it’s something I know our entire team is very proud of.

Is There Such a Thing as Minimally Invasive Liposuction?

woman-checks-hip-fat-in-mirrorToday, there are more techniques available than ever before for popular plastic surgery procedures like liposuction surgery. This includes increased demand for more modest, minimally invasive procedure alternatives as well. Some patients interested in body contouring only require modest tweaks to their appearance, and my line of signature Band Aid Plastic Surgery Procedures is perfect for this kind of patient. Today, I wanted to shine the spotlight on my Band Aid Liposuction surgery and how it can help my patients improve their body contour.

Traditional liposuction surgery is performed using a device called a cannula that breaks down fat deposits, before these fat cells are then suctioned out of the body. Band Aid Liposuction is able to provide similar fat removal results, but does so in a slightly different way. Because this minimally invasive version of liposuction uses even smaller surgical incisions, it can be performed here in my office using a simple gentle numbing agent. I often tell my patients to think of it as sort of a “mini” liposuction procedure.

Like traditional lipo, Band Aid Liposuction can be used to reduce excess fat from many areas of the body like the abdomen, hips, upper arms, back, and thighs. However, this procedure is most commonly used to address specific areas where very small amounts of stubborn fat can develop. I often perform Band Aid Lipo to help patients with unwanted fat in their lower abdomen, around the neck (double chin), and above their elbows.

Patients often ask which is “better” between Band Aid Liposuction and the standard version of the surgery, but the answer depends completely on the extent of fat removal that the patient desires and what can safely be removed. Some patients may require more extensive results that Band Aid Liposuction cannot help with. However, patients who are good candidates for the less invasive option are typically thrilled with their aesthetic results and love the shorter, simple post-surgery recovery time.

How Can Ear Surgery Improve My Appearance & Self-Confidence?

doctor-examines-womans-earAs a board-certified plastic surgeon, I am well aware of the powerful connection between how a person looks and how they feel. Even if the ears are not necessarily the first thing to come to mind for many people seeking cosmetic surgery, that doesn’t mean that they can’t have a significant impact on a person’s self-esteem. I perform ear surgery (also known as otoplasty) to help patients who are not satisfied with the appearance of their ears. Below, I was happy to discuss some of the most notable aesthetic benefits of undergoing ear surgery.

Restoring Balance

One of the critical factors for many people wanting to improve their overall appearance is facial symmetry. In short, a balanced facial appearance where no one feature sticks out too much in a way that they may find distracting or unsatisfying. Ear surgery can help patients who feel that their ears are disproportionately large for their head size, or that certain parts of their ears are too large. During the procedure, I am able to reshape the cartilage (or even remove some excess cartilage as needed) to make the ears appear smaller and more in-line with the rest of the face. I can also perform this procedure to help correct asymmetry for patients who have one ear bigger than the other.

Help With “Ear Pinning”

Protruding ears, or ears that the patient feels stick out too far from their head is another very common reason to pursue ear surgery. In some cases, plastic surgery for the ears can be performed to achieve “ear pinning” results for patients. This version of ear surgery uses a small, discreet incision (made behind the ear) to then sculpt the ear’s cartilage or use long-term sutures to provide a new ear shape that is closer to the side of the head.

Reshaping the Ears

Additionally, some patients have other issues regarding the shape of their ears that ear surgery can also help with. This can be something that has occurred since birth or something that developed later in life, possibly after an injury of some kind. Either way, ear surgery is a flexible procedure that can help treat a wide variety of aesthetic issues depending on the specific needs of each patient.

Is There Such Thing as Minimally Invasive Body Contouring for the Belly?

smiling-woman-full-upper-body-shotIn the world of plastic surgery, certain areas of the body get labeled as “problem areas” due to how often they are the focus of aesthetic concerns for patients. While areas all over the body can be subject to the effects of aging, weight fluctuation, pregnancy, and all kinds of other changes over time, some areas like the abdomen are simply more of an issue for many patients than others. Today, I wanted to discuss some options I offer for minimally invasive belly rejuvenation.

Band Aid Tummy Tuck

It’s normal to carry a little additional fat in the abdomen as we age. But this stubborn fat, along with natural stretching of the skin over time, can make it impossible to address these concerns with diet and exercise alone. My signature Band Aid Tummy Tuck procedure is designed to help patients who seek a more minor, yet effective method for abdominal contouring. During the procedure (performed in my office), I apply gentle numbing (local anesthesia) to the abdominal area and then carefully remove this loose skin on the lower part of the abdomen (as well as fat and tissue as needed) to help provide a new trim and healthy-looking body contour. Patients who require additional benefits like repair of damaged or separated abdominal muscles may need a traditional tummy tuck surgery.

Band Aid Liposuction

Some people may only experience issues related to stubborn, hard-to-lose fat in their belly area (and not excess skin). In these cases, my minimally invasive Band Aid Liposuction procedure can provide much needed relief. During the surgery, I use refined liposuction techniques, to remove excess fat cells from the abdominal area and create a more toned and contoured physique. Because this too is done using gentle numbing and with a smaller surgical incision, recovery time is shorter and simpler following Band Aid liposuction.

In addition to terrific aesthetic results, reduced post-surgical scarring, less post-surgery recovery time, and less financial expense than a traditional procedure, these less invasive procedure options also offer patients even more benefits in the form of a Band Aid Mommy Makeover. This combined plastic surgery method combines a Band Aid Tummy Tuck and Band Aid liposuction (as well as a cosmetic breast procedure in some cases) into one procedure to provide thorough and more complete restoration to the belly area.

Which Type of Tummy Tuck Surgery Is Right For Me?

In fact, many patients may not realize that popular plastic surgery procedures like tummy tuck surgery can often be performed in different ways depending on the needs of each person. All tummy tuck methods are meant to help by removing sagging, stretched skin from the abdominal area, but there are differences that patients should be aware of heading into their consultation appointments. This is why I wanted to discuss the differences between standard tummy tuck surgery and my signature Band Aid Tummy Tuck here today.

Standard Tummy Tuck

A standard (or traditional) tummy tuck procedure is what typically comes to mind when discussing rejuvenation of the abdominal area with patients. This surgery is meant to help men and women who have loose skin, excess fat and/or damaged abdominal muscles that create the appearance of a “belly pooch.” During the procedure, excess skin and fat are removed, tissue is repositioned (if needed), while any damaged or separated muscles are repaired, to improve the tone and shape of the abdomen. This procedure can also provide terrific medical benefits as well for some patients, including improved posture, relief of back pain, and even addressing stress urinary incontinence in some cases.

Band Aid Tummy Tuck

Over the years, I have developed a series of minimally invasive procedure alternatives for patients including my Band Aid Tummy Tuck surgery. This less invasive form of tummy tuck was meant to provide more modest, subtle contouring results in the abdomen for patients who only need a small amount of skin or fat removed (and not muscles repaired). The Band Aid Tummy Tuck technique specifically focuses on regions of abdominal tissue that need the most attention, instead of addressing the entire abdomen. The surgery is performed in my office with gentle numbing, so recovery time is considerably shorter when compared to a standard tummy tuck.

How To Know Which Is Right For You

During the pre-surgery consultation, I will fully examine my patient to determine the cause of their aesthetic issue. This examination, paired with a thorough discussion of the patient’s preferences and cosmetic goals will help me better gauge which tummy tuck method will be the most appropriate for their needs. Some patients in need of muscle repair may not be good candidates for the Band Aid Tummy Tuck, but I like to leave all options open until a final decision needs to be made.
