Dr. John LeRoy Named Top Plastic Surgeon in Atlanta for 2024!

It has been incredibly gratifying through the years to meet so many wonderful patients and help them achieve the aesthetic enhancements they need to feel better about themselves and how they look. This level of dedication to patient care is a big reason why we’ve earned our reputation as one of the premiere plastic surgery practices in the metro Atlanta area. On this note, I wanted to announce that I am honored to have been named a Top Doctor in Atlanta in the field of Plastic Surgery by Castle Connolly once again for 2024.

Castle Connolly is an independent, physician-led group who identifies and highlights the best healthcare providers around the country in a wide array of fields. This includes plastic surgery and over 50 other general medicine and specialty areas. The vetting process uses a number of relevant criteria such as board-certification, reputation, peer recommendation, contributions to their field, and experience to determine the most exceptional physicians. Once the peer-selected nomination process has concluded, the top 7% in each category are selected as Top Doctors in their respective cities. Castle Connolly then brings this information to Modern Luxury Media who presents it to the consumer.

This is now the eighth consecutive year that I have been recognized as one of the top plastic surgeons in Atlanta, but I do not take the honor for granted. I do want to take a moment to thank the selection committee at Castle Connolly, as well as all of my colleagues in the plastic surgery community. I also want to thank my one-of-a-kind medical team for helping to make all of this possible, as well as our kind patients for all of their trust and support through the years.

The new year is here and with it comes endless possibilities for change and renewal. Resolutions are always a major talking point this time of year, but making resolutions and keeping them are very different things. Today, I thought it would be fun to take a slightly different approach to a very common concept and discuss how plastic surgery can be helpful for people trying to improve themselves at the start of 2024 and beyond.

Popular Plastic Surgeries for Patients of All Ages – Part 2

As I discussed in part one, there isn’t any specific age range for people who can benefit from undergoing cosmetic surgery. As long as the patient is in good health and a good candidate for their respective procedure, plastic surgery can be incredibly helpful and rewarding for patients of all ages. Today, I will go into more detail on how plastic surgery can be helpful for patients who are 50 and older, and more specifically, which cosmetic procedures can be most beneficial for these patients.

Cosmetic Procedures For Patients in Their 50’s

Unlike patients in their 30’s and 40’s who may be preemptively trying to fight off common signs of aging before they occur, plastic surgery for patients in their 50’s may require a more detailed approach. One consistent problem area that I see with patients in this age range is the cheeks beginning to lose their plumpness, the skin beginning to get looser and more wrinkles developing in the lower portion of the face. For people in their 50’s who have started to see the early signs of sagging skin and lax facial tissue, my signature Band Aid Mini Facelift can provide immense relief. Eyelid surgery to help refresh the appearance of the areas around the eyes is also very in-demand for patients in this age range.

Dr. John LeRoy Answers Your Questions About Ear Surgery

female-has-face-examedThe ears aren’t often what people think of when considering plastic surgery, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t have a considerable impact on how someone feels about their appearance. For many people, symmetry and balance are essential components of the look that they desire. And ears someone deems too big or not shaped how they would like can lead to unhappiness and lack of self-esteem. This is why I perform cosmetic ear surgery (also known as otoplasty). Below, I was happy to answer a few questions about ear surgery and how it may be able to help my patients.

Question #1: What is ear pinning and who can benefit from this approach to ear surgery?

For people whose issue is ears that protrude out farther than they would like, ear pinning can be an outstanding procedure option. During the surgery, a small incision is made in the back of the ear. A small amount of skin and/or tissue is removed, and then the remaining cartilage is then re-shaped or brought closer to the side of the head using long-term sutures. The result is better shaped ears that rest closer in towards the head instead of sticking so far out.

Question #2: Does it make sense to undergo ear surgery at the same time as another cosmetic surgery procedure?

For some patients, this can be an outstanding approach to achieving more comprehensive facial rejuvenation. For example, rhinoplasty surgery is one plastic surgery that is commonly paired with ear surgery. Having both these procedures performed together can help achieve greater facial balance and harmony. Additionally, combining both procedures into one can help reduce overall surgical costs and recovery time when compared to undergoing them both separately.

Question #3: When can I wear headphones again after undergoing ear surgery?

It’s best to play it safe while recovering from ear surgery. Every patient is different, but my personal advice would be to wait at least a month following the procedure before putting on a pair of over ear headphones. It’s important to give your ears enough time to recover and build back up strength.

4 Things To Know Before Any Facial Rejuvenation Procedure

checking-her-face-in-mirrorConsidering its prominence in regards to a person’s overall appearance, it’s no wonder that cosmetic procedures for the face are so consistently popular with people trying to look and feel younger again. However, there’s more to know about facial rejuvenation than many patients may realize, and it’s important to have all the facts before making any decisions regarding treatment. That’s why I wanted to take some time today to discuss a few things that every patient should know before undergoing a facial rejuvenation procedure.

#1: Results Will Often Be Subtle

In the overwhelming majority of cases, plastic surgery for the face is used to make subtle changes that will rejuvenate and refresh the appearance of the face. Meaning, patients shouldn’t expect to look completely different after their procedure has taken place. Good candidates for facial procedures include people who wish to tweak some aspect of their appearance to reveal a younger looking version of themselves.

#2: There Are Less Invasive Alternatives

These less invasive alternatives to popular facial procedures like facelift surgery and eyelid surgery are meant to help patients address more moderate signs of facial aging. #3: Age Signs Like Wrinkles May Return In The Future

Undergoing a facial procedure can absolutely help address common signs of facial aging like wrinkles, lines, lost volume, and more. However, they can not stop the natural aging process entirely. New age signs likely will emerge as the years go on. This is merely a reminder for patients to maintain realistic expectations before their procedure.

#4: Cosmetic Facial Procedures Will Not Be Covered By Insurance

Although there are some exceptions where a facial procedure is reconstructive in nature following an injury, facial procedures are considered elective and will not be covered by health insurance. This is why I am flexible with my patients and offer plastic surgery financing options to help reduce the financial burden of undergoing a cosmetic procedure should they want this as an option.

Lastly (but most importantly), all facial procedures should be performed by a board-certified and experienced plastic surgeon.
