Frequently Asked Questions About Botox® and Dysport®
As a patient, it’s incredibly likely that you’ll have many questions about the cosmetic procedures that you’re interested in. This is especially true if you’re new to the treatments that are offered at a plastic surgery office. Dr. John LeRoy has received quite a few frequently asked questions about Botox® and Dysport® in the decades that he’s been practicing as a board-certified plastic surgeon. The following are some of the most common.
What’s the right age for Botox® or Dysport®?
Many millennials are redefining the typical age of patients who receive Botox®and Dysport®. There is a recent trend of individuals who want these injectables as a preventative wrinkle treatment. So, the answer to this question is that there isn’t a right age for either of these treatments. It’s completely based on each patient’s own goals and needs.
Is there a difference between Botox® and Dysport®?
Both Dysport® and Botox® are nonsurgical injections that relax muscle to smooth over fine lines and wrinkles and allow skin to attain a more youthful appearance. The proteins in each injectable are slightly different, but the effects are very much the same. They focus on wrinkles caused by expression or excessive movement like crow’s feet and forehead lines without any downtime.
Which wrinkles can I fade?
There are various sites on the face that can develop wrinkles at different rates. During your in-person consultation with Dr. John LeRoy, your cosmetic goals will be established to target specific problem areas. Botox®and Dysport® can help fade the following:
- Glabellar lines (between eyebrows)
- Crow’s feet
- Forehead
How often will I need injections?
The answer to this question depends on each individual. Things like smoking and sun exposure will hinder results, so more frequent injections would be required. Patients who get Botox® and Dysport® typically retain their look for up to 3-6 months.
Do the cosmetic injections hurt?
This is a very common question that plastic surgeons receive. Since the injectable needles are very small, patients will feel very minimal pain. Dr. John LeRoy has been performing Botox®and Dysport®treatments for decades, so he has ample experience with making patients comfortable during their visit.
