Celebrating Your Motherhood with a Mommy Makeover
Mother’s Day isn’t enough to show the full appreciation for how wonderful moms truly are. Child birth is notorious for being physically taxing and can often cause women to lose confidence in their looks. Dr. John LeRoy performs Mommy Makeover procedures to help mothers reclaim their bodies with specialized restorative techniques.
How does pregnancy affect appearance?
The body is placed under a significant amount of stress during the rapid bodily changes that take place during pregnancy. Although unique to each woman, the physical effects of childbirth typically show up in similar ways. Some of the common changes include the following:
- Stretch marks are a result of quick weight gain that stretches the skin in areas like the breasts, abdomen, buttocks, and hips. When the body grows at a faster rate than the skin can gradually expand, skin tears and develops visible scarring, otherwise known as stretch marks.
- Breast shrinkage can occur for a variety of reasons that can be difficult to specifically determine. Factors like genetics, weight loss after childbirth and age are some determinants of breast shrinkage.
- Breast growth is highly common for many women who have given birth as well as those who breast feed. As the breast tissue expands during pregnancy, sometimes breasts don’t ever return to their former state.
- Breast sagging happens during pregnancy and breast feeding because ligaments stretch and cause breasts to become fuller and heavier, which causes them to sink.
- Increased fat in hips, abdomen and thighs can cause many women to feel uncomfortable in their own skin. It’s not uncommon for many people to retain some weight that they gained during their pregnancy after childbirth.
- A Stomach “pooch” is the result of abdominal muscle separation that causes the area to protrude.
The Different Components of a Mommy Makeover
The goal of a Mommy Makeover is to help women feel beautiful and confident in their overall appearances. This procedure can help you return to your pre-baby body by primarily targeting the breasts, abdomen, love handles, hips, thighs and buttocks. During an in-person consultation with double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. LeRoy, all of your cosmetic concerns will be discussed so that your Mommy Makeover is as effective as possible. Some of the components include a tummy tuck, breast augmentation, fat removal with liposuction. Each patient will have different physical traits that they would like to improve, so it’s a highly customizable procedure.
One of the most significant benefits of a Mommy Makeover is that it treats multiple post-pregnancy concerns at the same time. It’s designed for women who want to return to their pre-pregnancy state as quickly as possible. Patients can recover from their procedures at the same time, which makes it more efficient and easier on those with a busy schedule.
Motherhood is an accomplishment that should make you proud, so don’t let the state of your post-pregnancy look affect your self-confidence. Dr. LeRoy’s Spring 2019 Charity Contest Details
During each season of the year, I host a social media contest to raise money for a local charity organization. Since the purpose of this event is to contribute to a charity in our community, I like to ask for input from my social media followers about which group to nominate. We select the category based on the suggestions so that a specific type of charity isn’t repeated. However, the final decision will be based upon your voting on Facebook. Since we started this contest, we have proudly contributed to many wonderful local organizations. For this spring, the category will be Memory loss, Dementia or Alzheimer’s.
Details of the Spring Charity Contest Include:
Nomination
Each of our social media contests is split into two separate components. The first part is a three-week-long nomination period. For the Spring Charity contest, our social media followers can nominate different local charities that fit the category of Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s. The nomination window runs from now until 5/8/19. To promote your charity of choice, you can comment on the pinned post that displays the contest details on Dr. John LeRoy’s Facebook page. The charity that is mentioned in the most comments wins. So that every organization has a fair shot at winning, participants can only comment once with their charity selection that hasn’t been a previous contest winner or they will be disqualified. Once the nomination period ends on 5/8/19, we will announce the top four finalists.
Voting
Once the top four finalists are selected, the voting process of the charity contest will begin. Any of our social media followers can vote on the list of featured local charity organizations. The candidate with the most votes will be publicly announced in a Facebook post on 5/29/19. Participants must only vote once on their specific charity in the category of memory loss, dementia or Alzheimer’s.
My goal as a plastic surgeon has always been to help people. Our whole office is very proud to give back to our community through this charity contest. It allows us to help people beyond the field of plastic surgery. I encourage you to participate and help us find a worthy candidate for our $1000 donation. Please be looking for our upcoming Facebook posts in the next few weeks and don’t miss out on your chance to vote! If you have any questions, contact Dr. John LeRoy’s office at 404.843.0840.
What is the Difference Between a Standard Tummy Tuck and a Mini Tummy Tuck?
Excess fat on the abdominal area is notoriously difficult to get rid of with exercise and diet alone. Struggling to achieve a thinner figure can be a very frustrating and disheartening experience. To give patients a viable method to achieve their desired body shape, Dr. John LeRoy can perform a Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty) or his signature Band Aid (Mini) Tummy Tuck.
Who is a good candidate for a Tummy Tuck?
There are many factors that can determine if a patient is a good fit for a Tummy Tuck procedure. It’s ideal for people with loose skin, excess fat or a protruding abdominal “muscle pooch” on their midsection that could be due to weight loss, pregnancy or other common factors. A Tummy Tuck is designed to safely contour the abdominal area to improve tone, shape and size. Individuals must be above the age of 18 to be undergo this type of cosmetic surgery. It’s also important to note that although this cosmetic procedure can create fantastic results, it’s not a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise. Tummy Tucks are purely cosmetic, so they don’t cure any health issues that arise from being overweight.
Band Aid Tummy Tuck
Dr. John LeRoy developed his signature Band Aid line over 20 years ago to provide patients with more subtle results and a faster recovery time than typical plastic surgery procedures. The Band Aid Tummy Tuck was developed to target skin and fat on patients who only need a small amount removed. The technique specifically focuses on regions of abdominal tissue that need the most attention. This allows for a less comprehensive surgery, which means it can be performed in office with gentle numbing and a shortened recovery time compared to a traditional Tummy Tuck.
The difference between a Traditional Tummy Tuck and Band Aid Tummy Tuck
The first step in determining which type of Tummy Tuck you need is to schedule an in-person consultation. It’s very important to go over your cosmetic goals in detail so that treatment can best accommodate your needs. Each patient has unique physical traits that will determine which type of Tummy Tuck will be the best fit.
The key difference between a Traditional Tummy Tuck and a Band Aid Mini Tummy Tuck is subtly. If you have a larger quantity of skin, fat or protruding muscle that you want to remove, then the traditional version of the procedure would be more appropriate. Therefore, patients who have smaller amounts of loose skin or pockets of fat might want to consider the Band Aid Tummy Tuck instead because of its emphasis on more refined results.

The Upward Trend of Body Enhancement Procedures
The results of last year’s plastic surgery trends were just released from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and it showed a major surge in the popularity of body enhancement procedures. Now more than ever, people are turning toward reliable methods of contouring, lifting or shaping their bodies. Dr. John LeRoy has been performing cosmetic procedures for the body for over two decades to help patients achieve their desired look.
The past year has been a very popular time for liposuction. This is likely due to its versatility and unparalleled ability to quickly contour areas of the body. For patients who have pockets of excess fat that are seemingly resistant to diet and exercise, liposuction is truly an ideal body enhancement procedure. It works by thoroughly breaking down fat deposits into fat cells that are gently suctioned from the treatment site. The final result is a slimmer and more contoured physique.
For more refined changes to the body, Dr. John LeRoy can perform his own signature Band Aid Liposuction procedure that is performed in-office with gentle numbing. This allows patients to still attain their desired look, but with a shorter recovery time than a traditional liposuction.
Arm Lift
Excess fat and skin around the upper arm area can be a major source of discomfort and anxiety because it’s an area of the body that’s difficult to conceal. As a cosmetic solution for this issue, an Arm Lift can include:
- Liposuction to remove unwanted fat
- Removal of excess skin
- Tightening and toning of the underlying muscle
Depending on a patient’s needs, a combination of these techniques will be applied to eliminate fat reserves and sagging skin. Just as with liposuction, we offer a Band Aid version of an Arm Lift procedure, which is designed for those with a smaller amount of fat and skin on their arms. The Band Aid Arm Lift still creates exceptional results with contouring the upper arm, but with a less intensive recovery process.
Tummy Tuck
Over the years, fat can accumulate on the midsection that is notoriously difficult to burn off. A Tummy Tuck helps smooth the contour of the abdominals and remove any excess skin. During this process, regions of skin and fat are safely removed with an emphasis on natural results. For subtle results, Dr. John LeRoy also offers the Band Aid Tummy Tuck for the lower portion of the abdominals.
