Addressing The Face After Weight Loss With the Band Aid Facelift
Social media has become a driving force of many aesthetic trends in recent years. Just as popular new weight loss medicines like Semaglutide have become more prominent in online discussions, so too have some side effects from weight loss. The phrase “Ozempic face” has gained traction on social media recently as more people (especially celebrities and influencers) have discussed the changes to their facial appearance after their weight loss. Additionally, we have heard from some of our own patient’s recently who have experienced this firsthand and who are looking for a reasonable solution. Today, I wanted to discuss how my signature Band Aid Facelift technique can help address the effects of post weight loss.
Semaglutide medications were primarily used for treating type 2 diabetes in the past. These medications work by mimicking a hormone that regulates insulin levels and suppresses the natural appetite. The desired result is considerable weight loss that can be sustained over time with a healthy diet and daily exercise.
And while many patients are satisfied with their weight loss, there can be some unexpected side effects. Rapid loss of facial fat can lead to unwanted and unpleasant changes in a person’s facial appearance. Some natural fat in the face is essential to provide volume and make the face look healthy and youthful. By losing too much of this fat, a person can look old before their time, and experience a deflated and hollowed out appearance.
Patients seeking a way to restore lost facial volume may benefit from undergoing a cosmetic surgery procedure like my Band Aid Facelift. This minimally invasive alternative to a traditional facelift is intended to address common signs of facial aging and provide a more youthful and rested facial appearance. Depending on the patient’s specific needs, the procedure can be performed by making a small incision under the chin, above the ears, or in the nape of the neck. This surgery is performed in my office under gentle numbing, so no hospital stay will be needed and the recovery process is shorter, simpler, and more economical than with most facelifts.
Cosmetic surgery can be a terrific option for anyone concerned about lost facial volume or other signs of facial aging. For more information on my procedures, contact me, Dr. John L. LeRoy. You can follow along with me on Facebook for additional tips, practice news, and much more.
