Dr. John LeRoy Analyzes Current Facial Plastic Surgery Statistics
In the interest of my patients, I make a point to check out plastic surgery statistics from time to time. Doing so helps me better grasp the industry from a greater vantage point than just what is going on within my practice. Today, I thought it would be interesting to go into more detail on plastic surgery for the face. Analyzing these statistics help us learn how and why patients are currently choosing certain plastic surgery for facial rejuvenation. All statistics presented were gathered by The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) for 2023.
- Once again, eyelid surgery was by far the most commonly performed plastic surgery for the face with over 120,000 procedures performed. This was over 40,000 more than the next most common procedure for the face (facelift surgery).
- The top-5 most popular in order were eyelid surgery, facelift surgery, rhinoplasty, facial fat transfer injections, and liposuction for the double chin.
- Always in demand, facelifts experienced an 8% year-over-year increase, significantly surpassing previous years’ growth. This includes less invasive procedure methods like the Band Aid Mini Facelift.
- A relatively new procedure, buccal fat pad removal increased 7% from the previous year.
- For younger patients (between 20-30), rhinoplasty was by far the most commonly performed plastic surgery for the face.
- Both eyelid surgery and facelift surgery were both hugely popular with patients between 55-69, with this age group accounting for 56% and 59% of those procedures respectively.
I always enjoy diving deeper into industry news like this and gaining a better understanding of what prospective patients may be most interested in when they come visit my office for the first time.
