Ask Dr. LeRoy: Questions About Brow Lift Surgery
Because many internet publications present unreliable information about plastic surgery procedures, it can be difficult for patients to find real answers to their questions. Dr. John LeRoy believes that people deserve helpful responses from someone who is an experienced double board-certified plastic surgeon, so he has compiled a short list of frequently asked questions. In the following, he’ll answer some of the most common questions about brow lift surgery.
The brow, or forehead, is an area of the face that shows signs of aging with the development of wrinkles, sagging skin and fine lines. A brow lift tightens and lifts skin to make your features look more youthful. It’s a very effective way to rejuvenate the top half of your face with one specialized procedure that provides proper brow placement.
Why does my brow sag as I age?
As we age, our skin loses elasticity and firmness, and forehead muscles gradually weaken. This causes the brow to sag or droop over time. It’s a very common issue for both men and women, but it can cause feelings of self-consciousness.
Is there a mini version of a brow lift?
Because each person has a unique set of physical features, cosmetic procedures should be customized. This is the reasoning behind my Band Aid Brow Lift—a more subtle alternative to a traditional brow lift. A Band Aid Brow Lift has a shorter recovery time a lower cost, and is performed in-office with gentle numbing, so it’s a popular option among many patients. During an in-person consultation at our office, we can determine which procedure is the most well-suited for your needs.
What is it like to get a mini Brow Lift?
Like all of my Band Aid procedures, Band Aid Brow Lifts are performed in-office with gentle numbing since it’s less invasive than other traditional surgical options. Our whole office places a huge emphasis on patient-experience, so you’ll be treated like family during your consultation visit and procedure.
When do the results from a Brow Lift or mini Brow Lift show up?
Since each patient has different cosmetic goals and facial features, there isn’t a universal length of time that people can expect for the results to appear. The full extent of positive changes after a traditional brow lift typically take a few weeks or months, but they typically appear soon after a Band Aid mini brow lift.

Common Misconceptions About Tummy Tucks
Excess fat in the abdominal area is notoriously stubborn and difficult to eliminate, even with a strong commitment of diet and exercise. Men and women both tend to experience more difficulty losing fat from the midsection as they get older, so creating tone and contours can often feel like an impossible challenge. Dr. John LeRoy performs a tummy tuck procedure to give each patient control over their look. To provide clear and reliable information, we want to clear up a few common misconceptions that surround this procedure.
1.) Exercise and dieting consistently are just as effective as a tummy tuck.
There’s an a completely false notion that people who receive tummy tucks are unwilling to work for the body that they want. Due to pregnancy, age and varying metabolisms, many people can’t quite achieve the body they want with just diet and exercise alone. A tummy tuck doesn’t discredit any hard work a person has done to enhance their body.
2.) A Tummy Tuck is a weight loss solution.
A cosmetic procedure isn’t a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, a tummy tuck shouldn’t be considered as an alternative to eating well and committing to a consistent exercise routine. Receiving a tummy tuck, dieting, and staying active at the same time gives you the best chance of looking and feeling great for many years to come.
3.) A Tummy Tuck can affect pregnancy.
Contrary to what some might believe, a tummy tuck won’t negatively affect the safety or success of a pregnancy. In actuality, a tummy tuck procedure is susceptible to the physical changes that occur during pregnancy. It’s often recommended that women wait until after they’re done having kids to receive this cosmetic procedure to ensure the positive results are preserved.
4.) Liposuction does the same thing as a Tummy Tuck.
Because a tummy tuck and liposuction both improve the midsection area, they can sometimes become confused with one another. Liposuction surgery is used to eliminate targeted fat deposits that will be suctioned from the body, creating improved tone and contours. Whereas, a Tummy Tuck is incredibly effective at removing loose skin and fat, repairing muscle separation, and developing a more firm and flat appearance. It’s the go-to cosmetic procedure for people after weight loss or pregnancy because of how well it reshapes the midsection.
The best way to determine if a Tummy Tuck is right for your own cosmetic needs is by scheduling an in-person consultation with double board-certified Dr. John LeRoy. How Can a Rhinoplasty Improve the Way My Nose Looks?
Noses come in all shapes and sizes, but each person has unique features that makes it impossible for a universal, one-size-fits-all standard to exist. Who is a good candidate for a rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasties are frequently performed on men, women, young patients, seniors, etc. Essentially, there’s no one type of candidate for this procedure. It’s used for a variety of reasons, but the best way to determine if it’s right for you is by scheduling an in-person consultation with Dr. John LeRoy. What features can a rhinoplasty improve?

It is one of the more distinguishing traits on the face, so it creates feelings of self-consciousness in many people when their physical qualities aren’t proportional or evenly shaped. The following is a list of common nose-related issues that can be fixed with a rhinoplasty.
- Nose shape that is too wide or narrow<
- Nose tip that is positioned downward, upward or to one side

The long-term benefits of a rhinoplasty

How to Plan Your Exercise Routine After a Facelift
Even for active people who follow a healthy diet plan and exercise regimen, facial features will inevitably start to sag and lose their youthfulness. As a solution for this cosmetic problem, a facelift tightens and lifts the skin to create natural-looking results that take years off a person’s appearance. However, we realize that those who exercise consistently might feel uncomfortable adjusting their routines. Dr. John LeRoy has performed over 6,000 facelifts throughout his career, and many of his patients are athletes or exercise enthusiasts. By following a post-procedure recovery plan, you can receive the incredible benefits from a facelift and still re enter your normal exercise routine afterward.
Things to consider before your facelift procedure;
There are many variables that impact the length of a person’s recovery time after a facelift procedure. Factors such as age, health, and healing rate are all different for each person, so there isn’t an exact prediction that applies to everyone. This is why Dr. John LeRoy meets with patients before their procedure for an in-person consultation. It creates the opportunity for patients to discuss their needs and expectations so he can deliver their desired results. During an in-person consultation, Dr. John LeRoy will cover all of the >facelift recovery information, and patients are welcome to contact our office with any follow-up questions.
Pace your recovery after facelift surgery
Your recovery period after a facelift surgery is crucial to preserving your long-term, positive results. Therefore, it’s important to pace yourself when returning to your exercise routine. After about 2 weeks, many patients can partake in light activities like walking, stretching, and some forms of yoga that don’t require techniques that send a lot of blood flow to the head. However, getting plenty of rest and avoiding excessive movement during the first couple of weeks is highly beneficial to ensure a speedy recovery. On week 3 and 4 of your recovery, you can go back to light exercise and physical activity, but if you notice any discomfort while doing so, it means that you need to wait longer to participate. Make sure to take it slow at first and work your way back up to the normal regimen.
Once you’ve hit the four to eight-week mark of facelift recovery, it should be safe for you to participate in strenuous physical activity. For the majority of patients, this is enough time for complete recovery, so they can enjoy their outstanding facelift results and also recommit to their exercise routine. Keep in mind that this doesn’t necessarily apply to everyone. Some people require more than four to eight weeks to fully recover, so you’ll need to listen to your body and not push yourself too early.
All of double board-certified Dr. John LeRoy’s patients are strongly urged to carefully follow all of his recovery guidelines and communicate any questions or concerns before and after the facelift procedure.
