As a double board-certified plastic surgeon, my passion is helping patients become their most confident and beautiful selves. Because every patient has his/her own specific concerns, meeting that goal can take many different forms. As you may have noticed, most of my blogs focus on facelifts (especially my exclusive Band Aid Mini Facelift) and other facial rejuvenation procedures, and I love seeing how much my patients enjoy their results. However, over the past 34 years, I’ve had extensive experience in an array of other surgeries as well, from breast augmentations to liposuction. On top of all these, I frequently provide non-surgical treatments like Botox® and Dysport® injections, laser skin resurfacing, facial filler injections, and non-surgical skin tightening.
For a more thorough description of the treatments and cosmetic surgeries I provide, check out my video below.
For any plastic surgery patient, the first step is figuring out exactly what you want to improve and finding out what your options are. To learn more about whether you might be a candidate for any of the procedures described above, schedule a consultation at my plastic surgery office. When asked why they chose the medical field, most doctors will talk about their passion for helping people. This is certainly true for Dr. John LeRoy. But as fulfilling as it is to see the smile on a patient’s face when they feel confident for the first time in years, he also enjoys helping those who are beyond the reach of his cosmetic surgery office. That’s why he began holding his social media charity contests four years ago. And today, the tradition continues with his Summer 2017 Charity Contest, focusing this time on veterans and military personnel.
How Dr. John LeRoy’s Charity Contest Works
Our charity contests have two stages: nomination and voting. Between now and August 4th, 2017, anyone can nominate their favorite nonprofit organization via Dr. John LeRoy’s Facebook page. When all the nominations are in, we’ll evaluate them and select four finalists. These finalists will be announced on August 7th, and you’ll then be able to vote for a winner until August 18th, 2017. The winning charity will be announced on August 21st, 2017 and will receive a $1,000 donation from our office. It’s as simple as that!
Each charity contest we host also has a specific theme. For instance, our last contest focused on children’s charities. The theme for our Summer 2017 contest is local veterans and military personnel. All of us at the office of John L. LeRoy, MD are grateful for all our past and present military service members, and we have chosen to make them the very deserving focus of our latest charity contest.
How to Win $1,000 for Your Favorite Georgia Veteran/Military Charity
Look for the top post on the page, inviting you to submit your nomination. Comment on this post with the name of a local Georgia veterans’ charity or military charity you would like to nominate.
Nominations must meet these criteria:
The organization must belong to the designated category—the Summer 2017 category is “charities for veterans or military service members”. Organizations in other categories will not be eligible to win.
The charity must hold a 501(c)(3) non-profit distinction or be a valid and charitable crowdfunding page.
The charity must be in Georgia.
Each nominator may only nominate one charity.
The charity must contribute to a greater good, identifiable through a published mission statement.
The charity may not be a previous charity contest winner (recent winners include The Tree House Inc., Remembering Ruthie Rescue, Calvary Children’s Home, and Little Nuggets Rescue).
Return to Dr. LeRoy’s Facebook page between August 7th and August 18th, 2017 to vote for a winner. Each person can only vote once, so tell your friends and family to vote, too!
As a strong believer in paying it forward, Dr. John LeRoy is honored to be able to serve others in his community (through both plastic surgery and charity contests like this one), and he would like to personally invite you to participate. By nominating and voting for a deserving organization, you’ll be able to make a difference in the lives of people who have sacrificed for us all.
Facial aging is one of the most common aesthetic concerns around, so it’s no surprise that countless rumors and home remedies have arisen regarding how to get rid of them. But which of these theories can actually help you look your best and which will simply prove to be a waste of time and money? As a double board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in facial rejuvenation, I’m happy to use my knowledge and expertise to answer your questions about a few of these anti-aging myths.
Myth #1: Wrinkles are what give away your age, so to look younger, you just need to treat your wrinkles.
Actually, there are a number of factors which make a person look older. While wrinkles and sagging skin are the most obvious signs, there are a number of factors (some of which we only notice subconsciously unless it’s pointed out to us) that betray someone’s age, including age spots as well as the loss and shifting of facial tissue which ages the shape of the face itself. For this reason, the most comprehensive results can be achieved with a combination of plastic surgery (like my Band Aid Mini Facelift) to remove excess skin and reposition the underlying tissue, along with skin treatments like Band Aid Laser Skin Resurfacing to address age spots, fine lines, and other common problems.
Myth #2: The newer the treatment, the better it is.
It’s true that medical science is constantly advancing and producing better treatment options for cosmetic and medical needs alike, but just because a procedure is newer doesn’t mean it’s actually better. It may simply be another manufacturer trying to enter the market. Or, in some cases, a new treatment may actually offer improved benefits for certain types of patients, but it may not be the right option for your specific needs. Research your options and talk to a board-certified plastic surgeon to figure out the best course of action for you.
Myth #3: Aging is hereditary, so if your parents always looked young for their age, you will, too.
Some degree of your natural aging process is hereditary, but aging can be strongly affected by environmental factors like sun exposure, smoking, diet and exercise, and more. In other words, don’t take your good genes for granted. In order to stay looking your best, you’ll still need to use some degree of facial rejuvenation treatments as the years go by.
Myth #4: There’s nothing you can do to keep wrinkles away.
Aging can’t be prevented entirely, but there are ways you can slow and delay its progress. The aging process is accelerated significantly by sun damage, smoking, excessive drinking, and other environmental factors, so protecting your skin and following a healthy lifestyle can have a strong impact on your appearance. Another increasingly popular choice is Dysport® or Botox® injections. Because these relax the targeted facial muscles, they can limit the development of certain expression lines like crow’s feet, frown lines, and forehead wrinkles.
Myth #5: You can look 20 years younger without surgery.
Unfortunately, this is simply an unrealistic expectation. While they won’t have such a dramatic affect as to take decades off your appearance, non-surgical procedures like Band Aid Skin Tightening (which requires no downtime), Band Aid Laser Skin Resurfacing, and the like are highly effective for facial rejuvenation. The other good news is that modernized surgeries are not as invasive as you might expect. The Band Aid Mini Facelift offers highly successful and natural-looking results with just half the recovery time of a traditional facelift, and my new Band Aid Micro Mini Facelift is even milder.
Myth #6: You get what you pay for.
This isn’t to say that all facial rejuvenation treatments and skin care products are created equal; it simply means that the most expensive choice is not always the best one. In terms of procedures, talk to a plastic surgeon who specializes in facial rejuvenation about the ideal options for you, and as far as skin care products go, focus on the active ingredients, not the price or the flashy packaging.
It’s understandably tempting to give it a try when you hear something like “this face mask you can make with ingredients you already have will take ten years off your face.” But when it comes to something as important as your health and your appearance, only trust a board-certified and experienced professional. To discuss how you can be your most confident and beautiful self, schedule a consultation with me, Dr. John L. LeRoy. Or, for more anti-aging tips as well as monthly special offers, follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.
With any facial cosmetic procedure the main plastic surgery results should be simple: natural-looking and beautiful. In my opinion, the last result any patient should see is an overly taut, wind-blown look; you should want results that keep everyone guessing what’s different about you. As beauty is in the eye of the beholder, when you gaze at your reflection in the mirror, instead of seeing someone you barely recognize you should hope to see and embrace your most beautiful and confident self.
Many of the men and women I work with come into my office with great expectations but often aren’t sure what procedures can help them look as young as they feel. Some have specific aging concerns such as mild to moderate wrinkling, under-eye bags, lax skin on the neck and more, that can be addressed with a number of surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures in my menu of Band Aid Facial Procedures.
The best part of my minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures is that they can often be combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures for even more effective results. As a double board-certified plastic surgeon with many years focusing on performing facial rejuvenation, I love working with patients to provide a well-rounded surgical plan. My goal for you is to naturally enhance your beauty and achieve your goals without compromising your care or safety. If you haven’t already had a chance to contact us at the office we encourage you to reach out to us. We love updating the John L. LeRoy, M.D. Facebook, Twitter and Google+ pages regularly so be sure to stay connected with us!
Ever wish that you could erase the signs of aging as easily as you could hit the backspace button to delete a spelling error on the computer? In an idyllic world the fountain of youth would be bottled up in pretty packaging and keep us looking vital no matter what our age. As a double board-certified plastic surgeon who created an extensive menu of Band Aid Facial Procedures, renewing glowing radiance is attainable for men and women alike. There is some solace that can be found in knowing that there are actually minimally-invasive cosmetic treatments on today’s market that can keep you looking young, even if this mythical elixir doesn’t actually exist!
The December issue of Atlanta Magazine includes a feature showcasing the benefits of my popular treatments including Band Aid Facelift, Band Aid Blepharoplasty and Band Aid Browlift. No matter what particular area of concern on the face you’re addressing there are a few constants that remain tried and true throughout all of my Band Aid procedures:
Mild to moderate signs of aging will become a thing of the past.
Your natural beauty is enhanced.
You’ll look more rejuvenated; almost like you’ve had a decade of sleep and have just woken up.
In-office Band Aid procedures that only require gentle numbing. That means you’ll be in and out of the office in a jiff – no extensive downtime or hospital stays!
Regain the confidence of youth.
I realize that this time of year is busy for everyone and perhaps taking the time to actually have a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure isn’t high on your list of priority; however, it will still be here when you’re ready. Taking time to do something that makes you truly happy should be a priority on your list no matter what that is. If you’re not sure what the next step is and even if you just have questions, I always encourage past, present and future patients to contact my office. There’s nothing that I love more than sharing information on what I enjoy doing on a daily basis with new and familiar faces.
As you embark on your plastic surgery journey, I encourage you to reach out to others who have familiarity with the procedure you’re interested in. Doing your background research on a surgeon’s credentials is important but sometimes you just need to get an opinion of someone who has been there as their advice can be invaluable in helping achieve the plastic surgery results you desire. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Google+ are great resources for finding additional information in additional to expanding your network of plastic surgery patients. We are here for you and look forward to helping you every step of the way!
