Many of my patients are requesting minimally invasive procedures to get a refreshed look for summer from the comfort of my office. Band Aid Procedures

My band aid procedures are modifications of more invasive cosmetic procedures. I offer a band aid mini facelift, band aid blepharoplasty, band aid brow lift, band aid laser skin resurfacing, and band aid lip augmentation, to name a few. These cost-effective procedures are performed in-office using gentle numbing. Because band aid procedures are minimally invasive, you will recover faster and be able to get back to your routine as soon as possible.

Fractionated Laser Skin Resurfacing

Our fractionated laser skin resurfacing utilizes DOT technology to rejuvenate the skin. This rejuvenation technique activates your body’s natural healing responses and causes your skin to repair itself with new cells. This treatment can be applied to many different parts of the body; however, it is commonly applied to the facial and neck area. This option is great for patients who want to see gradual improvement over several months.

Facial Injections

I offer a variety of facial injections including facial fillers to plump skin and preventative treatments such as Botox® and Dysport® to slow the effects of prominent wrinkles. Cosmetic injections can help to fill in sallow areas of your skin, plump thinning lips, and tighten the face overall without changing any of your underlying facial structure. As a double-board certified plastic surgeon, I aim to provide my patients with subtle, natural results. Some of the fillers I offer in-office include: Restylane®, Juvéderm®, Juvéderm Voluma® XC, Restylane® Lyft, and Radiesse®. For those looking to minimize lines caused by excessive facial movements, Botox® and Dysport® may be right for you. These facial injections relax the muscles and cause your face to be more relaxed, reducing wrinkles over time.

With over 20 years of experience, I am able to perform surgeries of both the reconstructive and the purely aesthetic variety and am well-experienced in helping patients achieve their aesthetic goals. Although patient goals vary, I take pride in providing natural aesthetic options to my patients through my band aid procedures. I am also able to perform many surgeries both in-office and in the hospital, should a patient elect to have their procedure performed in a hospital.

In the more than twenty years that I have been a double board-certified plastic surgeon, my commitment has been to providing my patients with plastic surgery which will achieve the results they’re looking for but which can also fit into their busy lives. This has primarily come in the form of my Band Aid Facelift and other Band Aid procedures: minimally invasive versions of traditional cosmetic surgeries which offer natural-looking results with half the recovery time, because they’re performed in-office using gentle numbing and specialized techniques. To continue my goal of providing more accessible cosmetic solutions, I’m proud to introduce my newest innovation: the Band Aid Micro Mini Facelift.

Announcing the Band Aid Micro Mini FaceliftWhile some plastic surgeries produce results which change little if at all over time (like nose reshaping and ear surgery), the issue with face lifts and other facial rejuvenation methods is that aging is progressive, and there is not a way to stop the process entirely. So while cosmetic surgery can make a powerful difference in that aging you have already experienced (in many cases, taking as much as ten years or more off a patient’s appearance), new signs of aging will arise over time. That’s where my Band Aid Micro Mini Facelift comes in.

It generally takes around eight to ten years after a facelift or Band Aid Mini Facelift for a patient’s aging to progress far enough to require another Band Aid Face Lift. In the meantime, some patients are happy with the results they achieve from Band Aid Laser Skin Resurfacing or Band Aid Skin Tightening. But for those who are looking for a more predictable and significant difference than non-surgical options can offer, the Band Aid Micro Mini Facelift can be the perfect solution for three or four years after the surgery.

So what’s the difference between the Band Aid Mini Facelift I developed twenty years ago and the new Band Aid Micro Mini Facelift? I developed this new procedure because of my patients who had expressed interest in making more subtle, incremental changes than even my Band Aid Mini Facelift provides—essentially with the goal of continuously keeping up with new signs of aging as they appear. Both the Band Aid Mini Facelift and the Band Aid Micro Mini Facelift are performed in a minimally invasive way, in-office with gentle numbing rather than general anesthesia. The Band Aid Micro Mini Facelift, however, is a milder version of the surgery, and it requires just half the cost and half of the already shortened recovery time the Band Aid Facelift needs. For most patients, maintaining ideal results will begin with a Band Aid Facelift or a traditional facelift, followed by incremental “touch-ups” as the years go by to address future aging, like Band Aid Micro Mini Facelifts and non-surgical treatments.

Plastic Surgery Trends: Is the Pippa Butt for You?

john leroy mdPlastic surgery has come a long way during my nineteen years as a plastic surgeon. When I first opened my Atlanta practice back in 1992, plastic surgery patients were much quieter about the procedures they pursued. No one wanted to be connected with the negative social stigmas that people associated with plastic surgery patients. Betty White’s comment that we discussed in a previous blog about how plastic surgery makes people unrecognizable is a perfect example. What was once seemingly reserved for the stars of Hollywood is the ticket people now use to look like their favorite stars. I’ve found, however, that patients are most satisfied with plastic surgery results when they choose procedures based on their own concerns and aesthetics rather than someone else’s.

Like your mom always warned you growing up, fads and trends are forever changing. Due to the permanent nature of plastic surgery results, it’s important to have the right perspective when pursuing plastic surgery instead of conforming to trends. With the right perspective, patients can conduct the research necessary to find the appropriate procedure for their needs as well as the right plastic surgeon to perform the procedure.

Research is a very important part of plastic surgery. You can hear all about botched cosmetic surgery and cosmetic surgery gone too far just by watching the news, so rather than telling you what could happen with an unqualified plastic surgeon, I try to teach my readers how to prevent it. Board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery is of upmost importance when you’re looking for a plastic surgeon. Once you’ve determined that the prospective surgeon is board certified, then you should spend some time looking into the procedures he or she regularly performs, closely inspecting plastic surgery before and after photos of the procedures that interest you. Then, it’s important to schedule consultations with a couple of surgeons to get to know them a little better and determine whom you feel most comfortable with.

I perform a variety of cosmetic face, body and breast procedures like facelift, tummy tuck, liposuction, breast augmentation, and breast reduction. However, I do not perform the recently popular Pippa Butt Lift. Even if I performed cosmetic surgery of the buttocks, I do not encourage my patients to follow such trends. While you may be satisfied with trend surgery results for a time, once the next trend comes along patients are usually left unsatisfied. I also try to teach my patients that there are times when less is more with plastic surgery, which is why I created my original Band Aid Facelift in 1997. The Band Aid Facelift is a “mini” facelift procedure that can be performed in my office using only gentle numbing. Since then I’ve extended my menu of Band Aid Procedures to include Blepharoplasty, Brow Lift, Tummy Tuck, Liposuction, and now even Laser Skin Resurfacing.
